GPS College Guidance established the Elidia F. Ortegón College Grant to support first-generation and underrepresented students to get equal access to higher education that might be otherwise out of their reach.

We welcome all partners with open arms to join us with our efforts in helping all students achieve their full potential.

Empowering future generations with education.

First-Generation Student Demographics

According to the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), 61% of Latinx students and 41% of African-American students that enroll in undergraduate studies are first-generation college students.

First-generation students encounter many obstacles when pursuing higher education, which can stop them from completing the degree they want.

Research has also shown that there are significant differences in enrollment and degree completion between first-generation and continuing-education students.

Here at GPS College Guidance, our mission is to support and guide first-generation college students through the college admission process.

We’re looking for socially responsible and civic-minded individuals or organizations that are interested in helping us improve the educational opportunities available for students.

Grants sponsored by individuals or organizations can be awarded to students selected by the sponsors, or to students who successfully apply for an Elidia F. Ortegón College Grant.

To discuss partnership opportunities that will allow us to pay it forward for first-generation and underrepresented students, please contact us by submitting the form below.

We look forward to hearing from you!
